This 12-week actor training is first and foremost aimed at developing a more self-aware actor – it is only with self-awareness that actors can recognize what they need to grow as an actor, seek out training that will address those needs, and evaluate the suitability of that training in actually doing so.

Hence, over the course of the training, participants will be provided with opportunities to reflect on their inner motivations, as well as their strengths and limitations as an actor. They will also be introduced to Liz Lerman's Critical Response Process, a system to encourage giving and receiving useful feedback on not just artistic works, but creative processes as well.

Secondly, to support the development of greater self-awareness, the workshop will also introduce different ‘languages’ to think and to talk about what is happening onstage. Specifically, the workshop will cover Viewpoints as conceptualized by Mary Overlie, Anne Bogart’s practice of Viewpoints, and also some of the facilitator’s own explorations with Vocal Viewpoints.

Finally, recognizing that movement is often overlooked when text is present, the third section of the workshop aims to first introduce different strategies of developing movement scores independently of text, and then to introduce different strategies of placing movement and text scores next to each other.
